ABOUT WDCC

World Dance Crew Championship is a biennial world class event bringing together the artistry and performance of multicultural crews from around the world to compete on a world stage.

World Dance Crew Championship takes the crew component of hip hop, club, and street dance art forms and allows this to grow from all other competitions worldwide. Keeping the same crew structures and age groups will let existing crews and studios be more culturally expressive under relaxed set up rules, celebrating creativity and culture.

This is a world-class competition with reputable judges and the best crews in the world.

Te Ao Kanikani

World Dance Crew Championship was held for the first time in April 2025 at the Due Drop Events Centre in Manukau, Tāmaki Makarau, Auckland.

Mana whenua, Tainui iwi gifted the name Te Ao Kanikani, which translates to World of Dance.

The 2027 event takes place in the Aotea Centre, Tāmaki Makarau, Auckland.

Iwi Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei are the mana whenua (indigenous guardians) of central Tāmaki Makarau, Auckland.

WDCC acknowledges the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei and other iwi authorities of Tāmaki Makaurau. We honor their ongoing guardianship (kaitiakitanga) of the land, skies, and waters of this region. We pay our respects to their Kaumātua (Elders) and Rangatira (Leaders) past, present and future
